Junior round up - week ending 15th May

17 May 2022

For the week ending 15th May 2022, the Livi juniors were once again denied a little cricket by the weather but made up for it with some great games and participation in the senior teams.

With the under 14s game against Grange cancelled due to "inclement" conditions and the under 16s not yet started again, it was up to our two under 12s teams to get some game time.  Livi hosted Carlton at Dresselrigg and also sent a wee team to Linlithgow for the hotly contested West Lothian derby.

Whilst a great game was had at each venue with runs and wickets being shared around, cricket was again the winner as each game went to the final over!

Under 12s look forward to now playing Carlton both home and away on the 20th May!

Following on from some successes for the 12s, intrepid juniors Matthew V and Srikar B along with Arsh J and Zaki C (who had scored and umpired the under 12s the night before - cheers sunshine) played in the victorious 3rd XI who beat ESCA Div 7 table topping Drummond Trinity 5th XI by two wickets.  Wickets and a nice catch for our Srikar and runs at the top of the order for the other lads.  Great experience for all the kids and no doubt the DT5s guys won't bowl to a certain place to our Zaki again.

And of course, junior section captain Jared R continues in the 1st XI as an inspirational leader, taking wickets and scoring runs in the 1s victory over the Watsons 2nd XI.

The week concluded with the Eastern Knights u15s at Livi for an inter-squad match which featured the interesting moment where Srikar bowled his bestie Matthew for a duck.  That made for an interesting car journey home...

This week sees Livi under 14s at home to Carlton (rained off), as well a travelling party to Galashiels for a friendly under 15s game along with the aforementioned Carlton under 12 matches.

The week ends with the second round ECB Vitality Cup under 15s tie versus new friends from Callendar on Sunday 22nd May, 1000 start.
